Tackie Townie Christmas Party Gets Ugly for a Good Cause Tonight
The biggest butt-ugly sweater-sporting yuletide soiree in Oxford is the Tackie Townie Christmas party held annually at Proud Larry’s. The event’s spirit of giving is as strong as your granddaddy’s egg nog as local musicians contribute their lyrics and licks—for a good time second only to witnessing Emmet Otter’s Jug Band rollick at Doc Bullfrog’s Riverside Rest.
Tonight at 8 p.m., the tunes turn up and the haberdashery gets hideous at the fifth annual Tackie Townie Christmas with performances by The Holy Ghost Electric Show, Rocket 88, Love Cannon, Moon Pie Curtis & The Fixins, Bill Perry, Keith Sanders, Will Griffith and more special guests. The fun is sponsored by Proud Larry’s and the Oxford Music Festival.
Admission is $10 at the door or purchased beforehand here, and proceeds will benefit the Northwest Mississippi Chapter of the American Red Cross and Interfaith Compassion Ministry.
