Goose Creek Club To Host First Annual Fundraiser
The Goose Creek Club is a prime country club in North Mississippi area. It broke ground on March 2013 and now close to finishing its second year next March the club is hosting its first annual fundraiser next Tuesday starting at 9:30 a.m.
Mike Bryan, tennis professional certified by United States Professional Tennis Association, said, “This is the first year for this event. Hopefully we will make it an annual event.”
Bryan said the idea came to them from a member and a friend of his: Taylor Wilkinson, a board member of the Boys and Girls Club. “She is the one that mentioned making it a fundraiser event,” Bryan said, “hoping to attract more participants.”
Half of the proceeds will go to the Boys and Girls Club. The Boys and Girls Club has series of items that are listed in the Giving Tuesday’s 2014 Holiday Wishlist. These items are copier machine, paper cutting board, two-shelf utility cart, arts and crafts supplies, billiards stick set, six foot or larger folding tales, folding chairs, new board games, colored paper rolls, colored boarder and letters for bulletin boards and a commercial cookware set.
The non-members of Goose Creek Club are welcome. For all participants in the fundraiser the minimum donation is $25. Bryan said that if the people want to come only for the lunch it is fine. Tennis playing is limited to the first 56 players to sign up. Tennis may be cancelled if there is inclement weather but the lunch will be available still. The participants do not have to stay for lunch if they do not wish to, according to Bryan.
Bryan said the those interested in playing tennis should register as soon as possible so the club can plan ahead. For registration those interested can email Bryan at mike@goosecreekclub.com or calling the club at 662-380-5055.
