Oxford Police
Halloween is this Friday! The Oxford police would like to share safety tips with y’all for this week for a great Halloween for all.
The Oxford police dept. is aware that Halloween falls on a game day weekend so it is taking precautionary steps in neighborhoods as children trick-or-treat. Officers will be stationed at North and South Lamar with extra patrolling in surrounding neighborhoods.
Here are safety tips for trick-or-treating from the police:
Wear reflective clothing or attach reflective strips to costumes.
Carry a flashlight or glow sticks.
Parents should escort their children around neighborhood and encourage them to walk, not run.
Remember masks can be visually obstructive. Face paint is a good alternative.
Always stay on sidewalks and use crosswalks when crossing the streets. If sidewalks are not available then stay on edge of the road and walk facing the oncoming traffic.
Drivers, please stay alert and use extra caution when driving through popular trick-or-treating areas.
For more information, look up the Oxford Police Department on Twitter or Facebook. The dept. can be contacted at 662-232-2400.
