OPD Lays Out Traffic Plans For Tennessee Game
The Oxford Police Department shared the following message with HottyToddy.com:
We are looking forward to hosting Tennessee fans this weekend along with our regular game day visitors. We urge fans to ride the shuttles to decrease traffic before and after the game. Our goal is to be proactive in preventing any disturbances or unsafe activities, and as always, do not hesitate to contact us should the need arise.
West Jackson Avenue traffic will be the same as the last home game:
After the Game: All traffic traveling Eastbound or Westbound on West Jackson Avenue will only be allowed to make right turns at intersections. No one will be allowed to make a left turn crossing traffic. This will ensure the most efficient exit from the center of the city.
West bound traffic on West Jackson Avenue towards Highway 278 will have two options:
1. Drivers wanting to ultimately go West on 278 towards I-55 and Batesville are encouraged to stay in the right lane on Jackson and exit onto Anderson Rd. where you will be routed to Highway 278 for Westbound travel only, no left traffic turns will be allowed. This has proven to be the quickest exit towards Batesville.
2. Those wanting to ultimately go East on 278 towards Highway 7 are encouraged to stay in the left lane until passing Anderson Rd. where you will be directed to the intersection of Jackson and 278 to turn left and head East. Traffic will also be given the option to go West, but will experience delays.
Fixed routes will continue until traffic is flowing freely.
