Given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end, the award recipient is selected by vote of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee and the 2014 John Mackey recipient will be announced on Dec. 10 and then presented live on Dec. 11 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show on ESPNU.
Engram has helped Ole Miss start 6-0 for the first time since 1962 and rise to No. 3 in the national rankings. The Powder Springs, Ga., native has caught 18 passes for 264 yards, and perhaps more importantly created mismatches that have led to numerous big plays for the Rebel offense.
Upcoming key dates include the announcement of the 2014 Mackey semifinalists on Nov. 17 and the 2014 Mackey finalists on Nov. 24. All future announcements can be found at www.johnmackeyaward.com.
NFL Hall of Fame member John Mackey is considered to be the best to have played the tight end position. A tight end by whom all others are measured, Mackey was a role model on and off the field as demonstrated by his Super Bowl Championship, his commitment to community and his place in history as the first president of the NFLPA.
