Freeze on Homecoming Matchup against Vols

Published

on

Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze talked with members of the media on Monday about the upcoming game this weekend against the Tennessee Volunteers.
After an impressive 35-20 win over Texas A&M this past weekend and defeating Alabama 23-17 the week before, the Rebels remain the same in the AP poll at No. 3 in the nation.
Early in the press conference, Freeze was asked about an alleged photo of Robert Nkemdiche circulating around the Internet of a man with a water bong, often used for smoking marijuana. The photo, which appears to be a Snapchat screenshot, began circulating Sunday via a Tennessee fan message board.
Freeze was not surprised by the photo, saying “I’m very aware of the picture and also when it was taken and where it was taken.”
Ole Miss’ drug-testing policy was strengthened by athletics director Ross Bjork and Freeze a few years ago and does not call for an automatic suspension for an initial failed drug test. Athletes are suspended for 25 percent of the team’s remaining games for a second failed test, and a third requires an immediate dismissal from the team and loss of scholarship.
No mention of a potential punishment or suspension came from Bjork or Freeze Monday.
The Rebels Landshark defense was able to hold the Aggies that averages 47.8 points per game against Ole Miss. Texas A&M only scored 20, a season-low for the Aggies. When they ended the first half 21-0, it was the first time the team went into the locker room with a goose egg under coach Kevin Sumlin.
