Magnolia State Teams No. 1, 3 in Nation
As Week 7 of college football came to a close, the SEC’s Magnolia State teams continued to impress the country.
The afternoon started with Mississippi State hosting Auburn at Davis Wade Stadium. Coach Dan Mullen’s squad took control of the game from opening kickoff.
After jumping out to a 21-0 lead Auburn soon got on the board, but the Bulldogs never relinquished their lead.
Then the Ole Miss Rebels went into Kyle Field and dominated the Aggies of Texas A&M. Ole Miss’ defense shut out A&M in the first half, and Bo Wallace played lights out by leading the charge with his first two rushing touchdowns of the season to score the first 14 points in the game.
When the final gun sounded, the Rebels won the game by 35-20.
With the Bulldogs beating three Top 25 teams in a row, they were able to jump over the Florida State Seminoles in the AP Poll and land the No. 1 ranking. Ole Miss missed moving up to No. 2 by two votes and stayed solid at No. 3 for the second consecutive week.
Texas A&M fell seven spots in the poll from No. 14 to No. 21, and SEC East leader Georgia knocked out Mizzou out of the rankings and climbed to No. 10.
