Oxford Daily Crime Report for Friday to Sunday, Oct. 3 – 5
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 23 disturbances, 16 improper parking, 13 alarms, 11 malicious mischief, 11 suspicious activities, nine ambulance assists, nine lost properties, six noise complaints, five petit larcenies, five public intoxications, five reported shots fired, four welfare concerns, four simple assaults, four careless drivers, three harassing phone calls, three animal assists, two littering, two 911 hang-up calls, two motor vehicle assists, two auto-burglaries at Fleur de Lis and Trustmark Bank at W. Jackson Ave., a residential burglary at Old Taylor Road, a fire dept. assist, a harassment, a misdialed 911, and a grand larceny.
Oxford police investigated 30 wrecks, issued 112 traffic citations, and made __ arrests on the following charges: (34) public drunks, (3) DUI to first degrees, (3) DUI to first degrees with careless drivings, (3) minor in possession of alcohol, (2) minor in possession of alcohol and drug paraphernalia, (2) minor in possession with false ID, (2) open containers at Johnson Ave., a DUI to first degree with improper equipment, a DUI to first degree with speeding, a suspended drivers’ license and no car insurance, a warrant served, a possession of drug paraphernalia, a DUI with careless driving, a suspended drivers’ license and no car insurance, a public drunk in possession of schedule III narcotic, a DUI to first degree, a DUI to third degree with drug paraphernalia, a domestic violence per simple assault, a public drunk with failure to comply with officer, a disturbing the peace, and a trespassing.
Oxford police discovered no code enforcement violations.
University police responded to the following incidents: a petit larceny at University Circle, a petit larceny at Chi Omega sorority, a motor vehicle accident at the Library Annex, a petit larceny at Turner Center, a traffic assist on Sorority Row, a traffic assist on University Ave., a petit larceny at Lester Hall, a motor vehicle accident with injury at Sorority Row, a public drunk at Kincannon Lot, an intoxicated person in Kincannon Hall, an intoxicated driver on Fraternity Row, a publid drunk with disorderly conduct and failure to comply the officer at Union, a motor vehicle accident at Martin Hall, an intoxicated person within the Ridges, an auto-burglary at Meek Hall, a service call for a suspicious person at the Ridges, a reported grand larceny of more than $500 to UPD, a petit larceny at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, a service call for an escort and a grand larceny of more than $500, a strong-arm robbery at Stockard Hall, a vandalism of more than $500 and trespassing at Ridge-North Building.
Oxford Fire Dept. responded to the following calls: a report of a wreck at Highway 6 where the fire dept. disabled the battery on one vehicle, a burned popcorn activated the smoke detector at 319 Stewart Hall, a smoke detector malfunction at Kappa Delta house, a person stuck in an elevator Van Buren, a prank pull of the fire alarm at Phi Kappa Psi house, a hairspray activated the smoke detector at 9 Phi Mu house, burned food activated a smoke detector at 915 Buchanan, a duct detector malfunction in the attic at Khayat Law School, 15 people stuck in the elevator at Shoemaker Hall, and a smoke detector activation at Stockard Hall.
