Leslie Wells – Statutory Rape

Investigators with Oxford Police dept. arrested Leslie Wells, 20, of Oxford, for statutory rape of a victim under 18 years of age. Charges were filed subsequently after parents came to OPD and also an investigation by detectives. Wells’ bond was set at $5,000.
Oxford Police responded to the following incidents: three suspicious persons, two disturbances, two alarms, a suspicious vehicle, a malicious mischief, a fire dept. assist, a motorist assist, harassing phone calls, a welfare concern, an improper parking, an unauthorized use of another credit card, and a bomb threat at the CVS pharmacy.
Note: the bomb threat was called in at the CVS around 2 p.m. The OPD investigated the building and found it to be safe. CVS was reopened for business shortly after the incident.
Oxford Police investigated 13 wrecks, issued 41 tickets, and made three arrests for the following charges: a public drunk, a public drunk who disturbed the peace, and a possession of drug paraphernalia.
Oxford Police discovered one code enforcement violation: overgrown grass.
University Police responded to the following incidents: a drunk driver driving without headlights in Kincannon lot, a grand larceny with more than $500 at the Union, a service call for an ambulance at the Tad Smith Coliseum, a service call for an ambulance at Paul B. Johnson Commons, and an accidental motor vehicle property damage at Phi Delta Theta fraternity house.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: a cooked chicken activated the smoke detector at Northgate A104, a fire drill at Kappa Alpha house, a sprinkler system malfunction at the Ice House, an assist to the police department at the CVS, and a stove element shorted out at Country Road 3096.
