The No. 1 ranked Oxford High School Chargers learned a lesson in humility at home last night as the Starkville Yellow Jackets rolled over them in the Little Egg Bowl 52-29.
In their first home game on their brand new artificial turf, the Chargers made numerous turnovers and were easily handled by Starkville quarterback Brady Davis. Davis, a big time college prospect, passed for 411 yards and six touchdowns.
The outcome was basically decided at half with Starkville up 31-7. Oxford stars Jack Abraham and D.K. Metcalf got it going in the second half, but it was far too late. The Yellow Jackets, ranked No.3 in the state going into the game, have staked their claim to the No. 1 spot.
