The Oxford Police Department investigated a felony arrest on Monday, August 25:
Watson Burney – Two Counts of Uttering Forgery
On Monday, August 25th, investigators arrested Watson Burney, 24 year old from Water Valley, for two counts of Uttering Forgery. On July 22nd, the victim filed a police report of stolen and forged checks within the Oxford area. Through investigation, the victim signed charges of Uttering Forgery against Burney. Burney’s bond was set at $10,000.00.
The Oxford Police responded to four alarms, three improper parkings, two suspicious persons, one littering, one welfare concern, one petit larceny, one disturbance, one ambulance assistance, one careless driving, and one malicious mischief.
The Oxford Police also investigated eight wrecks, issued 23 tickets, and made five arrests on the following charges: three possessions of alcohol by minors; one possession of drug paraphernalia; and DUI first, careless driving, driving on a suspended license, and a possession of a fake ID.
The University Police responded to vandalism at Rebel Drive, vandalism at University Police Department, an car accident in Women’s Terrance Lot, a hit and run at the baseball field, an car accident at Phi Delta Theta house, and a car accident with property damage on Fraternity Row.
The Oxford Fire Department responded to one cancelled call en route to 2908 S. Lamar Road.
