The Oxford Daily Crime Report for Thursday, August 21
The Oxford police responded to the following incidents: six disturbances, two lost properties reports, two petit larcenies, a littering, a speeding, three public drunks, an improper parking, and an animal bite.
OPD also investigated nine wrecks, issued 35 tickets and made 15 arrests for the following charges: three public drunks; public drunk and disorderly conduct; public drunk and resisting arrest; two contempt of court warrants served; two possession of alcohol by minors; vehicle noise violation and suspended drivers license; possession of drug paraphernalia; driving the wrong way on one way street and DUI first; reckless driving, no insurance and DUI first; careless driving, no insurance and DUI first; careless driving, suspended drivers license and DUI first; and careless driving, suspended driver’s license and DUI second.
The Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: a cancelled call at Baptist Memorial Hospital, and a smoke detector alarm at Stewart Hall due to a resident draping a banner over the smoke detector thus causing it to activate.
The University Police Department responded to two vandalism incidents at Stewart Hall, assisted with traffic at the university’s Marijuana Project, investigated three hit-and-runs on campus, and two other wrecks at Northgate Square on Coliseum Drive.
