Newly opened massive Hunters’ Hollow store includes 10-lane indoor shooting range and more.
Almost from the beginning, Hunters’ Hollow has been on-target with what hunters and outdoor enthusiasts want and need, with clothing lines such as Columbia, Drake, Under Armour, Carhartt, and Browning. In its 26 years of operation, the sporting and hunting shop has developed an ever-growing range of merchandise.
The only thing missing at Hunters’ Hollow, by comparison to larger-box stores in the hunting segment, was the larger merchandising footprint –– something that the father and son duo of Donny and Luke Guest have addressed with the recent opening of their new, 35,000 square foot uber hunting and outdoor store location on Highway 6. The new facility is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.

The new facility includes a state-of-the-art, 10-lane indoor shooting range called Thunder Hollow, allowing customers to practice their marksmanship year-round or try out rental shotguns, rifles, and pistols before making a purchase. There’s also a separate 35-yard indoor archery range, Whisper Hollow.
“To my knowledge, there is not another sporting goods store in the country with an indoor gun range and indoor archery range, Guest says. “The customers who have been here tell me that it’s the nicest sporting goods store they have ever visited.”
The gun range allows a staff of six certified range masters to teach women and children to shoot a weapon safely and expertly, Guest adds. Thunder Hollow conducts classes on gun topics such as concealed carry, home invasion, and an introduction to hand guns, among other subjects.
“We even have a kid’s corner with a laser system and kid’s archery where kids can shoot balloons in mid air,” Guest adds.

The store’s indoor archery range annual membership fee is $199.00, or a shooter can choose the daily rate of $10. The gun range memberships cost from $200 to $600 yearly, depending on the membership level desired, or a shooter can choose the daily rate of $30. Another plan can be purchased for $120 annually, allowing a member to have unlimited, free rentals of range guns all year.
Despite the much larger store footprint and an inventory of 60,000 items that will increase significantly with the addition of a full line of fishing gear in 2015, Guest says he went to great lengths with the new store design to maintain the family atmosphere that has been a hallmark of Hunters’ Hollow from its inception. The store layout includes two lounge areas on the floor, as well as two other lounges located in the archery and gun ranges.
“You can come in and shop, shoot guns or bows, or watch TV while the kids play,” Guest says. “We also have break areas where refreshments are available. You could spend the day here. There is a lot to do.”
The Guests plan to hold a grand opening celebration of their new store September 8 through 20, with special events, celebrity guests and more than $50,000 in free prize giveaways scheduled throughout the two-week period.
The new Hunters’ Hollow store is located on Highway 6 West, just outside of town.
