It didn’t take long for Dr. Dan Shell, Oxford plastic surgeon, to select the winners of this year’s Taylor Grocery Catering, HottyToddy.com Father’s Day Father-Son Look-Alike Contest.
“It was pretty uncanny, the facial resemblance,” said the physician who is used to looking closely at faces in his line of work.

The winners this year are Robert and Memphis King of Brandon, Miss. The family, including Robert’s wife, Kimberly, picked up their prizes early Saturday morning at the Hampton Inn on their way to Omaha to watch Ole Miss compete in the College World Series. Robert said his sister, a photographer herself, took the original picture of Dad when he was 8 or 9.

Then they asked son Memphis to recreate the pose and you can see the results for yourself.

Memphis not only looks a great deal like me, but he also has my height,” Robert says. I am 6-foot, 3-inches tall; he’s 95 percent in height for his age group nationally.”

Memphis and Robert won a prize package worth more than $900.

On their post this morning, the Taylor Grocery Catering team captured the prize presentation ceremony perfectly:

We arrived at the Hampton Inn Oxford/Conference Center bright and early at 7 a.m. to set up and greet the winner. Just moments later walked in a beaming 7-year-old Memphis and his father twin Robert with his beautiful wife beside him.
He was more than shocked that he’d won. Which by the look of the photographs, you can understand our shock to their their shock. Dr.(Dan) Shell couldn’t stop looking in amazement at the similarities both structurally and photographically.
More than 20 years ago, Robert’s sister captured this moment of her younger brother at the age of 9 and when the announcement of the contest came his wife enticed her to recreate the moment with their son Memphis.
“I know we look similar but I never imaged we’d win. That’s why I planned our trip to Omaha to cheer on the Ole Miss Rebels baseball team,” said Robert when told about winning the Father’s Day contest over the phone from Dr. Shell’s office on friday night.
The smiles just kept getting brighter with each gift from the amazing and generous local business in Oxford that donated for this contest. The father-son King duo won an iPad 2 from the Hampton Inn Oxford Conference Center, a complete Grove package including food catered by Taylor Grocery Special Event Catering from Heritage Properties that own Old Taylor Place, Cambridge Station, Faulkner Flats and Lexington apartments.
That’s not all. The Kings also won a T-shirt, apron, gift card and seasoning and sauce package from Taylor Grocery, a gift card to L.B.’s Meat Market, an Ole Miss game day chair from Rebel Rags, a Big Green Egg rib rack and drip pan from Sneed’s Ace Hardware and an Oxford Cooler filled with Double Decker wine, tumblers and more from the Oxford Conference Center.
The Kings already knew which Ole Miss Rebels home game they want for their Grove Tailgate party — ALABAMA!
The team at Taylor Grocery knows how important community is and that giving back is more fulfilling than receiving at times.  We are so blessed and joyed at the opportunity to engage the community in fun and exciting contests that allow us to get to know the people that make up our amazing community.
This year we were able to help celebrate the joys of motherhood and fatherhood with two very wonderful families and we are looking forward to giving more.  If you’d like to be a part of our future contest please just drop a line at taylorgrocerycatering@yahoo.com or sign up for our monthly newsletter to see what’s coming up next.
