Tim Youd Retypes 'The Sound and the Fury' at Rowan Oak
As part of his ongoing, critically acclaimed undertaking to retype 100 classic novels, artist Tim Youd will perform a retyping of William Faulkner’s The Sound and the Fury at Rowan Oak.
Youd will perform at Rowan Oak June 2 – 12, 2014, Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday 1 to 6:00 p.m. Admission to performance is free with admission to Rowan Oak.
An artist’s reception will be held for Youd at Rowan Oak on Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Admission to the reception is free.
About Youd
For five years, Tim Youd has set out to retype 100 novels in a very unique way. He types each novel on a single sheet of paper on the same make and model typewriter that the original author used. In an artistic twist, though, he uses a top sheet so that the bottom page only receives indentations of letters, unless the ink bleeds or breaks through the top page.
