Huskies Shut Out Yellowjackets in First Regional Game
The Washington Huskies easily defeated Georgia Tech in the first game of the Oxford Regional, 8-0.
Washington hit the ball all over Swayze Field, mostly of the single variety, but with a few extra-base drives stroked in. Right-hander Tyler Davis shut out the Yellowjackets on 4 hits. The Huskies, representing the Pacific 10, plated their 8th run in the eighth inning.
The Huskies started the scoring in the bottom of the first with 1 run on a single. They added 4 in the bottom of the fourth and 2 more in the sixth with the key hit a 2-run double by center fielder Braden Bishop.
The Huskies will face the winner of the Ole Miss, Jacksonville State game this evening.
Davis was masterful, never really getting in trouble and striking out 7.
