Oxford School District (OSD) Superintendent Brian Harvey says this year’s Employee of the Year is “a problem solver who is resourceful and seeks to find a solution as quickly as possible while exhausting all resources.”
Fellow peers echo the superintendent’s comment about OSD System Administrator Jason Raby, the 2013-2014 Oxford School District Employee of the Year.
Raby’s school district peers  had the following to say about his stellar professional performance:
“What doesn’t this guy do? He fixes everything. People email him, and he comes running. He is so patient with all teachers. He is easy to talk to and doesn’t make you feel dumb for asking a question he might think is really easy. He hardly ever misses work. This school needs more people like Jason Raby.”
“Jason is always able and willing to help—FAST! He represents what the district should use as a model for an employee.”
“While many people on the list do a good job in their area, Jason’s expertise touches every aspect of what we do throughout the school district from the community, to Central Office, down to the Pre-K schoolers. Without a doubt, he is the most valuable employee we have. Jason works tirelessly to ensure that technology is available and working properly for all employees in the entire district. He is never more than an email or technology request away. He takes time to explain solutions without a hint of frustration.”
“Jason is always willing to help us with our technology issues. He not only tries to solve the issue, he takes time to explain various troubleshooting ideas. He has been most helpful to me.”
Raby has been with the Oxford School District for seven years in the IT department. His daily duties include troubleshooting technology issues in school classrooms to assisting wherever technology issues take him  in the school district.
“It is difficult to reduce to a few words Jason’s impact on the Oxford School District,” said  Mike Fortenberry, Director of Information Systems and Raby’s supervisor. “His tireless efforts affect virtually all that we do as a district. His easy going manner makes him a joy to work with, and his knowledge and skills make him a natural leader of the technology team. We are truly fortunate to have Jason as a member of the Oxford School District team. We want to thank him for a job well done, and congratulations on this well-deserved award.”
Raby says he was humbled when he found out he was named Employee of the Year.
“Wow, what can I say? I really appreciate everyone voting for me for Employee of the Year,” said Raby. “It is humbling to know I was thought of among all the wonderful employees on the nomination list. I try to do everything I can to stay behind the scenes keeping the technology everyone uses in the best condition it can be. The teachers are the real ‘Employees of the Year.’ I’m just here to support them the best way I can.”
He is married to Wendy Raby, an Oxford Middle School teacher, and they are parents to two children, Jackson and Carter.
