The Oxford Daily Crime Report for May 22nd
The Lafayette County Sheriffs Department released the following statement: William Craig Yourn was captured in Lafayette County by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Dept. on May 21, 2014 at approximately 12:00 Noon. Yourn was wanted in New Mexico and Florida for probation violations and several felonies, and also wanted for questioning by several other state and federal agencies. Mr. Yourn is incarcerated at this time at Lafayette County Detention Center awaiting extradition to New Mexico and Florida.
The Oxford Police Department responded to the following calls on May 21: four ambulance assists, malicious mischief, two alarms, a simple assault, trespassing, one disturbance, a welfare concern, a fire department assist, a parking complaint, petit larceny, and lost property.
OPD also responded to one wreck, wrote 51 traffic citations, and made five arrests for possession of drug paraphernalia; DUI 1; careless driving, DUI 2, and resisting arrest; speeding and consumption of alcohol on a city street; and public intoxication.
The Lafayette County Fire Department responded to the following calls on May 21: Resident in Lafayette Court Apt. 6 left the residence at 12:30 p.m. with something on the stove and caught the kitchen on fire; at 5:32 p.m. a call to Oxford Elementary on Highway 30 was cancelled; at 9:27 p.m. shower steam activated the smoke detector in The Village, Bldg. 110, Apt. 3; and at 10:11 p.m. several people were stuck in an elevator in Stewart Hall.
