The Daily Crime Report for May 16
The Oxford Police Department issued 14 tickets, investigated three wrecks and made seven arrests, on the following charges: malicious mischief; public drunk; suspended driver’s license; improper display of tag, suspended driver’s license; careless driving, suspended driver’s license, third-offense DUI; careless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia; and ran stop sign, possession of alcohol by minor.
Oxford Police also responded to reports of four alarms, four welfare concerns, three disturbances, three ambulance assists, two fire department assist, two malicious mischief, two grand larcenies, two suspicious persons, two suspicious activity and public drunk.
The University Police Department responded to the following incidents Thursday, May 15: Nothing reported. The Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls Thursday, May 15:
– Truck fire engine compartment and cab area- extinguished the fire, South Lamar / 1st National Bank area, at 11:16 a.m. – Truck fire earlier smoldering – found smoldering grass that was caught under the hood cowl area – extinguished, City of Oxford Shop, at 4 p.m. – Smell of gas – slight smell of gas but no source found – dispatch notified Center Point Energy, at Frontage Road / Old Taylor Road area, at 4:09 p.m.
