Six More Ole Miss Rebels Headed To NFL Camps

Former Ole Miss players keep getting calls from NFL teams with the opportunity to pursue their professional football dreams.
Wide receiver Ja-Mes Logan is signing a rookie free agent deal with the New England Patriots, while punter Tyler Campbell (Chicago Bears), linebacker Mike Marry (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), kicker Andrew Ritter (Patriots), center Evan Swindall (Seattle Seahawks) and defensive end Cameron Whigham (Bears) have been invited to mini-camps.
These six join Donte Moncrief, who was picked Friday in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts, and free-agent signees Pierce Burton (Minnesota Vikings), Emmanuel McCray (St. Louis Rams) and Jeff Scott (Cincinnati Bengals).
Logan was a consistent producer throughout his Ole Miss career, finishing tied for seventh in school history with 136 receptions and 12th with 1,734 receiving yards. The Houston, Texas native played in the East-West Shrine Game after his senior season.
Campbell is one of the only four-year starting punters in school history. A Little Rock, Arkansas native, he was a two-time All-SEC pick and the 2010 NCAA statistical punting champion. He ended his career with the second-best punting average in school history (44.6) and played in the 2014 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
Marry, from Clearwater, Florida, was a three-year starter at Mike linebacker for the Rebels. He was the 2013 Chucky Mullins Courage Award recipient and played in the 2014 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl following his senior season.
Ritter was a four-year kickoff specialist who also took over placekicking duties as a senior this past year. The Jackson, Mississippi native will forever be known for his game-winning 41-yarder to upset No. 6 LSU at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. He made 16 of 24 field goals and 42 of 45 PATs.
Swindall started 33 consecutive games at center to finish his Rebel career. He helped block for two fo the top three season in Ole Miss history in terms of total yardage. The LaFayette, Georgia product was selected to play in the 2014 College All-Star Bowl.
Whigham played in 41 games with 19 starts at defensive end for the Red and Blue. The Snellville, Georgia native racked up 4.0 career sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss, including 2.5 sacks and 4.5 TFLs as a senior.
This group adds to a rich tradition of Ole Miss talent in the NFL, including 280 draft picks and 19 first-round selections. Last year, there were 23 Rebels in the league, with three Pro Bowlers, two All-Pro selections, 13 full-time starters and several more who made appearances in their teams’ starting lineups.
