Local Jewelers to Keep an Eye Out For
One of my favorite things about springtime is the Double Decker Arts Festival. I enjoy exploring all the tents, each boasting a local designer’s art collection.
Whether they specialize in painting, ceramics, or jewelry, the talented artists always offer something special. And while the festival was a little over a week ago, there are several jewelry lines that are still on my mind.
Laura Husni is a local designer who specializes in making unique jewelry. Her wire-wrapped bracelets are great additions to an every day wardrobe. These bracelets are so delicate, yet glamorous due to the different stones she adds to each one.
Her Mississippi-shaped wire bracelets have been a huge hit lately, because they are such a great way to show off Magnolia state pride. She also sells a variety of beautiful beaded necklaces and funky earrings. One of my favorite pieces of her’s is a chain necklace with all the large multi-colored gems. This necklace is so fun and would spice up any simple cocktail dress.
Laura Husni sells a large selection of her jewelry at Olive Juice Gifts on the Square. She can also be contacted through her Facebook page to make custom pieces for those who would like a one-of-a-kind work of art.
Another designer that caught my eye was Nancy LaPlace Designs. Although she is located in Memphis, Tennessee, I had to include her work on here because I fell in love at first sight.
Her jewelry pieces are all inspired by her love of the outdoors, and they have an organic feel. My favorite pieces by far are the metal cuffs that come in different colors, including copper, silver and gold, shapes, and sizes and feature different stones.
I also am a huge fan of her chain necklaces that have small metal journals attached to them. Each one has a unique saying on it and when opened actually has paper to write on. How fun is that?
You can find a list of retailers where Nancy LaPlace jewelry is sold on her website www.nancylaplacedesigns.com.
