The Ole Miss Rebels open up their final two-week stand on Wednesday night starting against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.
No.10 Ole Miss (33-12) steps back on the diamond after an offensive fireworks explosion in the Blue Grass state of Kentucky. The Rebels powered the ball out of a hitter’s park with home runs galore.
Junior Auston Bousfield put on a hitting clinic going 10-14 with four doubles and a home run against the Wildcats.
Bousfield extended his hit total to 72 on the season, which leads the league.
Southern Miss (26-19) comes into Oxford Wednesday night after dropping a series to the Rice Owls over the weekend.
The Golden Eagles junior outfielder and catcher Austin Roussel owns a hot bat against the Rebels. He is 11 hits out of 12 at-bats lifetime, with a .917 batting average and two RBI in four career games.
The Golden Eagles are 4-6 on the year against teams from the SEC.
Southern Miss is counting on the arm of senior right-hander Cameron Giannini. While the Rebels will send freshman Evan Anderson to the mound.
Ole Miss looks to break a three-game losing streak to Southern Miss. In the last meeting, at Trustmark Park in Pearl, the Rebels lost a close one to the Golden Eagles by the score of 5-3.
