The Daily Crime Report for March 28
The Oxford Police Department investigated four wrecks, issued 55 tickets and made seven arrests, on the following charges: disturbing the peace; public drunk; two careless driving, first-offense DUI; ran red light, failure to yield to emergency vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, first-offense DUI; driving on the wrong side of road, first-offense DUI; careless driving, second-offense DUI.
Officers also responded to five disturbances, four alarms, three improper parking, two 911 hang up calls, two ambulance assists, two false pretenses, suspicious activity, grand Larceny, malicious mischief, simple assault and code enforcement – occupancy violation.
The University Police Department responded to the following calls Thursday: Three running a stop sign, driving without headlights, traffic assist, two malicious mischief, a fight at Lamar Hall, preparing a warrant, motor vehicle accident, auto burglary, Justice Court warrant, suspicious person and a disturbance.
The Oxford Fire Department responded to the following call:
– Burning breadsticks in a microwave activated a smoke detector in Stewart Hall room No. 525, at 5:37 a.m. today.
