The Daily Crime Report for March 27
The Oxford Police Department investigated six wrecks, issued 33 tickets and made six arrests, on the following charges: two possession of a Schedule 2 drug; out of jurisdiction warrant served; public drunk; careless driving and first-offense DUI; and careless driving, expired tag, first-offense DUI.
Oxford Police also responded to nine disturbances, seven alarms, three petit larcenies, three fire department assists, ambulance assist, two improper parking, two suspicious activity, careless driving, unauthorized use of another credit card, malicious mischief and shoplifting.
The University Police Department reported the following incidents:
Wednesday, March 26. Traffic assist, a hit and run accident, five motor vehicle accidents, three reports of petit larceny, malicious mischief, vandalism to vehicle, driving the wrong way on a one-way street, speeding, a fight at The Ridge, ambulance needed and driving without headlights.
The Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
– A resident broke a light bulb, which activated the smoke detector, on Dell Drive at 10:21 a.m.
– Someone accidentally knocked the fire alarm off the wall, at Cardiology Associates, at 3:12 p.m.
– Edging by the sidewalk and sparks set the grass on fire, at The Links Golf Course, at 3:56 p.m.
