Officers issued 35 tickets, responded to eight wrecks and made 10 arrests, for the following: open container, possession of drug paraphernalia; ran stop sign, open container; wrong way on one way street, open container; no seatbelt, suspended driver’s license, open container; ran stop sign, suspended driver’s license, possession of drug paraphernalia; public drunk; simple assault; speeding, first-offense DUI; careless driving, first-offense DUI; ran red light, first-offense DUI.
In other news, OPD reported five alarms, four disturbances, two suspicious activities, two welfare concerns, two lost property, improper parking, public drunk, abandoned vehicle, a 911 hang-up call, ambulance assist, fire department assist, code enforcement violation – storage of inoperative vehicles.
The Oxford Fire Department responded to two calls: – A cat knocked a heat lamp onto carpet, burning a spot on the carpet at 1:09 p.m., at 1109 Morgan Cove. – A call from the Oxford Country Club came in at 9:24 p.m., but was canceled while firefighters were en route.
The University Police Department responded to the following calls Thursday: A service call, ambulance needed, two disturbances, traffic detail, a suspicious person and indecent exposure, two motor vehicle accidents, two vehicle stops, harassment, four vehicle stops, speeding, no or expired driver’s license and driving on wrong side of road, two vehicle stops, a suspicious vehicle and assisted with traffic.
