Ole Miss Baseball Faces Mizzou this Weekend
The Ole Miss baseball team plays host to the Missouri Tigers this weekend to open SEC play at Swayze Field.
No. 14 Ole Miss (18-4,1-2 SEC) defeated Arkansas State on Wednesday night 4-3. Dalton Dulin came in to score the go-ahead run over the Red Wolves. The win gave the Rebels their sixth one-run, come-from-behind win on the season.
Senior Will Allen leads the team in RBIs with 27 on the year.
Missouri (11-9,1-2 SEC) enters the weekend after picking up a midweek series sweep over Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The Tigers are led at the plate this season by Kendall Keaton, who is batting an average of .351.
As a club, Mizzou is hitting the ball at a .266 clip with four home runs and 81 RBIs on the year. Last weekend, the Tigers dropped the opening weekend to the Tennessee Volunteers after picking up one game.
The probable pitching match-ups for this weekend’s series looks like this: for the Missouri Tigers, junior RHP Brett Graves (Friday), junior RHP John Miles (Saturday) and senior RHP Eric Anderson (Sunday); while coach Mike Bianco will probably send junior RHP Chris Ellis (Friday), sophomore LHP Christian Trent (Saturday) and junior RHP Sam Smith (Sunday) to the mound.
The Rebels and the Tigers are meeting for only the 10th time between the two schools. Missouri holds a one-game lead in the series.
For fans who can not make it out to Swayze Field this weekend, you can catch all of the action on Rebel Vision or listen to the call on the Ole Miss Baseball Network. Game times are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (Friday),1:30 p.m. (Saturday) and 1:30 p.m. (Sunday).
