In addition to the Oxford location, Amy Head stores are located in Ridgeland, Miss., and Birmingham, Ala.
“With unique and original style, each Amy Head location has a well-trained and heart-felt staff,” said Amy of Amy Head. “Because they listen,” she added, “you will get the look you want for any occasion.”
Amy and her husband Harold Head, combined their skills and worked together to create a successful business and a successful life. Amy painted as a child and modeled as a young adult. Over time, she learned how makeup could “naturally” enhance one’s features.
Harold is a skilled photographer. With his help, Amy mastered makeup techniques. The Head’s teamwork led them to learn the truths about beauty and this insight became the basis of their business concept.
In addition to photography, Harold designs the layout of each store. The couple live in the woods of Madison County with their daughter, MacKenzie, and their two dogs.
In addition to makeup products, Amy Head also offers Bonnie Holmes skincare, Amy Head scented candles, Poppy by Amy Head nail polish and handbags. These products are sold at the three store locations as well as Vitality Skin and Spa in Starkville and Columbus, Miss., Elite Medical Spa and Reed’s in Tupelo, Miss., Alluvian Spa in Greenwood, Miss., Belle G in Meridian, Miss., and Auburn Dental Spa in Auburn, Ala., the newest location.
Amy’s ability to train others how to correctly do their own makeup translates to her staff. One-on-one consultations allow customers to learn which products properly match their skin-tone, and how to apply the makeup perfectly.
These consultations help clients, “discover and rediscover their natural beauty,” as stated on the website.

Each season brings new products to Amy Head stores. This Spring, there are 11 new eye-shadows, 2 new lipsticks, and 5 new glosses. Oxford store manager, Claire Wright, said, “(our) mineral glaze is for sure one of the best sellers. For college girls, the bronzers are always a hit,” she added.
Wright has been with the Oxford location since it opened in August 2010. Although she grew up in Jackson, she came to Oxford after attending college in Tennessee. “Oxford is home for me,” she said.
Wright works full-time along with two part-time college students who do makeup.
Appointments are scheduled every day, keeping the staff busy. In response to how crowded the store usually is, Wright said that some days are busier than others. “…but you know, when Oxford is busy, it’s crazy.”
Frequent customer and Ole Miss sophomore, Alli Bridgers, uses Amy Head makeup every day. “Claire is really good about fitting me in and making an appointment when I need it,” she said. “I have gotten my makeup done there for events throughout high school and since I’ve been in college,” she added. “They are great about matching my makeup to whatever I am wearing.”
Be sure to go to the Amy Head store to check out the new Spring products and everything else it has to offer!
