Rebels Meet Red Wolves at Swayze Tonight
The Ole Miss Rebel baseball team returns to Swayze Field tonight to host the Arkansas State Red Wolves. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
No. 14 Ole Miss (17-4, 1-2 SEC) enters after dropping a heartbreaking series to South Carolina. The Rebels picked up the first game over the Gamecocks before losing Saturday’s doubleheader.
Coach Mike Bianco’s club is hitting at a .313 clip, which ranks third in the conference in offense.
Senior catcher Will Allen leads the team with 26 RBIs and ranks second in the SEC. While teammate Auston Bousfield ranks in the sixth in average, fifth in slug percent, second in hits, and tenth on base in the league, an impressive roundup.
Arkansas State (11-8) comes to Oxford on a five-game winning streak, including a sweep of Arkansas-Little Rock this past weekend. Austin Baker leads the Red Wolves at the plate with three of the team’s four home runs.
The Red Wolves have a batting average of .286 with four home runs and 103 RBI on the season.
For tonight’s game, ASU will send junior RHP Tanner Gaines to the hill. While the Rebels will go with the senior Jeremy Massie.
Ole Miss and Arkansas State are no strangers to one another on the diamond, as they have faced each other 88 times. The Rebels lead the all time series 67-21 and have won six straight games against ASU.
