Ole Miss Football Returns To Practice Field After Spring Break
The Ole Miss football team returned to the practice field Monday after a week-long spring break, and head coach Hugh Freeze was pleased with the team’s attitude and effort.
“I was real pleased,” said Freeze after the squad’s two-hour, full-pads practice session in the Manning Center. “I was concerned coming off spring break, but they’re 4-for-4 with their attitude and effort (this spring). They got after each other really good and had a real good workout.”
With the exception of the players that are out for the spring due to injury (OL Aaron Morris, OL Christian Morris and DL Woodrow Hamilton), only WR Vince Sanders was limited on Monday.
Those who stood out to Freeze during the first practice back after the week off were OL Austin Golson, WR Cody Core, WR Collins Moore, DE C.J. Johnson and LB Christian Russell.
“C.J. Johnson had a phenomenal day,” Freeze said of the veteran defensive lineman that missed most of last year after an ankle injury. “He’s developing into one of our leaders, and I’m really excited about what’s going on there.”
Freeze said he is looking for the team to get better in retaining what they are installing and be consistent in their attitude, effort and energy.
The first practice open to the public will be this Saturday, tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m. at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. More details will be available later this week.
