When Tony Deal graduated from Ole Miss in 2000, he took a corporate job with a promise to himself he would not follow in his dad’s footsteps and go into the auto repair business in Oxford.

Tony’s dad, John Deal, had Deal’s Transmission in Oxford for 25 years and retired in 1992.
“I hated the smell of gasoline and oil on my dad’s clothes when he came home each day,” Deal said. “But I quickly found the corporate world was not for me and soon, I was in the auto repair business.”

When Tony left the corporate world he started an on-site car wash business. He took a used van from his dad’s shop, packed it with water tanks, a generator, and other equipment and started washing cars at business locations around town.
“I have to admit, I love washing cars. That little business quickly generated $1000-1500 a week, and we put it together from spare parts,” he said
Tony opened Deal’s Auto Repair and Glass Company nine years ago. He moved in January from a location at Marquis Chevron on South Lamar to a larger facility at 221 East University Ave., next to Chandler Motors. The new location is four times larger than his former space and has allowed him to significantly increase his business and services offered.
Tony has found that the smell of gas and oil is actually the sweet smell of financial success.
Now at a new, larger location, Deal's Auto Repair now offers motorcycle repair and maintenance too.

“We have experienced double-digit growth each year since we opened. This year will be no exception, already we are ahead of last year and February is always a slow month,” he said.
Deal’s Auto Repair and Glass Company provides customers a full range of car repair and motorcycle maintenance services. The new location includes a quick oil change bay, auto detail center, auto and motorcycle repair areas, as well as glass replacement and repair.
“We have the latest computer technology available and can repair any car, including the latest model cars,” he said, adding his business in growing in all areas. “We have sold more tires at this location already this year than we sold all of last year. Our business increases each month,” he said.
Now that he has an expanded operation, Tony plans a number of marketing programs offering specials on a range of products and services. One new program is an “auto spa” package where Deal’s offers special pricing for an oil change and wash and clean up “to pamper your car.”
“When I go home I take my shoes off before I go into the house and shower first thing. I still don’t like the smell of an auto repair shop. But, I love getting up each morning knowing everything my wife and I have, we earned,” Deal said.
Tony’s wife, Kristine, owns Supreme Clean, a house cleaning service which has been in operation 15 years. The couple has two children, Madden, 7, and Ridge, 2.
Deal’s Auto Repair is located at 2211 University Ave. and can be contacted at (662) 281-4417. For more information, follow Deal’s Auto Repair on Facebook.
