Ole Miss Family Returns Home to Oxford for Spring Break
While many Oxford and Ole Miss families left to travel elsewhere to beaches or mountains, Spring Break brought Ellen Kergosinen home to Oxford. She, her three daughters, and her husband, Lt. Col. Leonard Kergosinen, are starting the last leg of a military career that began here at Ole Miss.
“We used spring break to visit my family, Jamie and Bonnie Smith of Batesville, before Leonard begins his final tour of military duty in Australia,” Ellen said. “We live in Tampa where Leonard is stationed at McDill Air Force Base. It has been great to visit home again. We look forward to retiring here in three years.”
Both Ellen and Leonard graduated from Ole Miss. He was commissioned through the ROTC program, beginning his military career early.
“We have property on old Highway 7 North, between Oxford and Abbeville, and will return here to enjoy Oxford and be near my parents. Leonard will be retiring early, but he’ll be looking to start a second career for sure,” she said.
The couple has three children: Ava 3, Lea 10, and Georgia, 13.
Leonard recently completed a tour of duty in Iraq and will spend his last three years in the service in Australia. Lt. Col. Kergosinen is an intelligence officer for the U.S. Air Force.
Ellen and Ava enjoyed a spring-like day of shopping last Thursday. Chaney’s Pharmacy was on the shopping tour (for some ice cream, of course).
