Three Gun Ranges Opening in Oxford, Offering Safety Training, Firearms Experience
IBISWorld, a leading market research group, estimates the U.S. shooting range market to be a half-billion dollar business, including 2,138 ranges located across the nation.
Soon, Oxford will add two more to that number as shooting ranges open on Highway 6. Lafayette County already has one shooting range, TGC Outdoors, located on Highway 7 North, which opened a pistol shooting range in 2013.
Hunter’s Hollow will move to a new 35,000-square-foot building, located on Highway 6 West, in June. The new location will included a 10-lane shooting range. The Range Of Oxford, owned by Derick Hand, will open 16-lane range in a 14,000-square-foot facility on Highway 6 East later this Spring.The Range will include a pro shop and offer a range of classes for handguns, rifles, and shotguns.
According to Hunter’s Hollow owner, Donny Guess, the well-known North Mississippi retailer is planning a “soft opening” this summer, but will have a major launch event in the fall.
“We’ve planned a two-week grand opening for September 8-20 with lots of activities, including special sports guests and a $50,000 give-away,” Guess said. “We will begin offering shooting and safety classes as soon as we open.”
