Rebels Host UALR for Weekend Series

The Ole Miss baseball team returns to the diamond this evening to host the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans in a three game series.
Ole Miss (11-2) jumped into four of the five national polls this week, with the highest ranking begin No. 15 in the Coaches’ Poll. The Rebels look to move past Wednesday’s 4-1 loss to Memphis this weekend.
Senior Will Allen leads the team with 19 RBI, which is second in the SEC. He is also eighth in the conference in hits and slugging.  While junior Auston Bousfield leads the team with a .429 batting average.
Arkansas Little-Rock (8-2) comes to Oxford after winning two last weekend in a round-robin tournament. UALR beat UIC and IPFW. The Trojans are lead at the plate by Justin Steelman, who is averaging .344 this season. The top run producer for UALR is Tanner Rockwell with two home runs and 12 RBI.
As a club, the Trojans are hitting at a .235 clip with six home runs, 51 RBI and 55 runs scored in ten games.
The probable pitching matchup’s for this series looks like this: UALR will send to the hill senior LHP Travis McDonald on Friday, senior RHP Ethan Schlete on Saturday, and junior RHP Cameron Allen on Sunday. Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco will send junior RHP Chris Ellis on Friday, sophomore LHP Christian Trent on Saturday and junior RHP Sam Smith  on Sunday to the mound.
This weekend will be the 18th time that the Rebels and the Trojans have faced off on the diamond. Ole Miss owns a 13-4 advantage in the all-time series. UALR won the last meeting 9-6 in 2010.
For fans that can not make it out to Swayze Field this weekend can catch all the action on RebelVision or ESPN3 (Fri, Sat). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30p.m. on Friday, at 4p.m. on Saturday, and 1:30p.m. on Sunday.
