The Ole Miss baseball team returns to the diamond this weekend to host the Central Florida Golden Knights in a three-game series starting this evening at 6:30 p.m.
Ole Miss (7-1) is coming off a couple come-from-behind wins from the mid-week sweep of Louisiana-Monroe. The Rebels defeated ULM on Tuesday 5-4, by a walk off single by freshman Braxton Lee. On Wednesday night, Will Allen delivered a clutch single, breaking a 3-3 tie to give Ole Miss the lead.
This season, Auston Bousfild and Allen have given the Rebels both multi-hit and multi-RBI games. The duo has a total of five multiple-hit games on the year. Allen has three multi-RBI games and Bousfield added two multiple-RBI games.
Central Florida (6-2) rolls into Oxford after a midweek victory over Jacksonville State on Tuesday night. Derrick Salberg leads the Golden Knights at the plate with a .382 average, ten runs scored, and four RBI’s.
As a club, UCF is hitting .272 with four homeruns and a total of 43 RBI’s on the season.
The Knights are sending Eric Skoglund to the mound on Friday, Spenser Davis on Saturday, and Sunday’s starter has not yet been determined. While coach Mike Bianco is going with the arms of Chris Ellis on Friday, Christen Trent on Saturday, and Sam Smith on Sunday.
This weekend’s series will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.
Fans can listen to all the action on the Ole Miss Baseball Network. First pitch is set for 6:30p.m. on Friday, 1:30p.m. on Saturday, and 12 p.m. on Sunday.
