ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Ole Miss women’s tennis team picked up eight wins in singles and doubles against South Florida and Georgia Tech, respectively, on day two of the Michigan Invitational here at the Varsity Tennis Center Sunday.
On Saturday, the Rebels struggled to win the close sets, but Sunday was a different story with the Rebels claiming six of the eight singles matches against South Florida.
“Overall, we played better than we did on Saturday,” head coach Mark Beyers said. “We were able to win a lot more close sets.  Jason and I are excited about the improvements we are seeing from day to day.”
At No. 1, Julia Jones defeated Kayla Rizzolo 6-3, 6-4 to win her 10th match of the year.  Senior Caroline Rohde-Moe downed Loreto Alonso 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2, also for her 10th win of the year.                 Freshman Zalina Khairudinova beat Fanny Fracassi 6-0, 7-5 at No. 3 for her first singles win as a Rebel, Erin Stephens got by Olga Martinez 7-6, 7-5, Marija Milutinovic took out Alessandra Bonte 6-4, 6-0 and Allie Robbins finished with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Hailey Grillo.
Against Georgia Tech in singles, the Rebels were only able to come away with one win, but in doubles Sunday, Ole Miss took two of three against the Yellow Jackets.  Switching up the order, 19th-ranked Rohde-Moe and Milutinovic downed Rasheeda McAdoo and Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer 6-2 at No. 2. Jones and Khairudinova topped Kendal Woodard and Nicky Murillo 6-2 for the second win in as many days.
Play will conclude Monday with the Rebels facing South Florida in doubles and Michigan in singles.
