Rosie Vassallo recently attended the American Association for Retired Citizens Conference and was named to head up the Oxford-Lafayette County Economic Development Foundation’s Retirement program.
At the conference, Vassallo learned that 65 percent of all adult Internet users engage in social media. In 2011, baby boomers increased their usage of social media by 60 percent, while mobile usage is still developing among boomers and seniors. Seniors use smartphones regularly at the rate of 29 percent, compared to 48 percent of the general population.
As a result of this finding the Oxford-Lafayette County Chamber and the Economic Development Foundation is partnering with Verizon Wireless to conduct a seminar “Your Cell Phone & You” scheduled for Friday, February 7. The Foundation is inviting all retirees to learn more about the use of their cell phone. The seminar will be an excellent opportunity to ask questions.
The seminar is free and will be held in the Chamber Board room, located at 299 Jackson Avenue West. Please call 662-234-4651 or email rosie@oxfordms.com to make your reservation as seating is limited.
