Piggy Banks and Pitmaster Tours
If you’re in Memphis or New Orleans, join us at one of two upcoming Piggy Bank Dinners.
January 23 – Flight restaurant in Memphis – click here for details and menu; call Flight at 901.521.8005 to reserve your seat.
February 8 – Commander’s Palace in New Orleans – click here for details; call Commander’s Palace at 504.899.8221 to reserve your seat.
Proceeds from both dinners benefit the SFA’s documentary work. We thank Flight and Commander’s Palace for their support.
The other upcoming events we want you to know about are not SFA-sponsored, but they are close to our hearts and stomachs. Shortly before Thanksgiving, pitmaster Rodney Scott, a friend of the SFA, saw the pits at his Hemingway, SC, barbecue joint go up in flames. His comrades in the Fatback Collective are staging the “Rodney in Exile” tour, raising funds to rebuild Rodney’s pits and get his family’s establishment back on its feet. Check the list below to see if Rodney is coming to a city near you, and click here for more details on each leg of the tour. If you’re not familiar with Rodney’s legendary ‘cue, click here to watch Joe York’s short film CUT/CHOP/COOK.
