In the Crystal Ball Jan. 18 Are Great Community Leaders
Hernando, Miss.– The 14th Crystal Ball on Jan. 18 will provide the backdrop to honor outstanding Community Stars from North Mississippi.
The Crystal Ball helps 400 nonprofit organizations and causes through the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi, with an emphasis on education and health for children and youth. Tickets for the Jan. 18 gala are $150 per person and are available for purchase at 662.449.5002 or www.CFNM.org.
This year’s recipients of the Dan Maddox Man of the Year is Cal Trout of Charleston, Miss. Peggy Linton of DeSoto County is the Margaret Maddox Woman of the Year. Also honored at the event will be Star of Hope, Bob Pittman, a native Mississippian who founded MTV and now heads Clear Channel.
“These outstanding individuals and organizations make Northwest Mississippi a better place to live,” said Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi President Tom Pittman. “We are pleased to lift them up as stars for us to appreciate and follow.”
The Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi is an independent not-for-profit organization founded in 2002 that serves 10 counties: Bolivar, Coahoma, DeSoto, Marshall, Panola, Quitman, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate and Tunica. The foundation is governed by a board of 20 volunteer civic leaders and impacts the communities of Northwest Mississippi by connecting people who care with causes that matter.
It currently manages 135 donor-established funds and has distributed $11.2 million to support 400 charitable organizations and activities recommended by its donors, as well as charitable programs established by the Community Foundation in its priorities of education and health for children and youth.
