Ole Miss Travels to Western Kentucky
Ole Miss Hoops hits the road to take on the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Monday evening in Bowling Green, Ky. at 7 p.m. CST.
Ole Miss (8-3) comes into the contest after losing its last game to the Mercer Bears by a score of 79-76. The Rebels fought back to tie at 76 with a three-point basket by senior Marshall Henderson with 6.7 seconds remaining in the game. The Bears then proceeded to drive the ball up court and drain a winning three-point bucket.
Junior Aaron Jones is third in the SEC and tied for 27th in the nation in blocked shots as he is averaging 2.8 per game. As a team the Rebels have deflected a total of 85 shots on the season, which leads the conference and ranks third in the nation averaging 7.7 a game.
Western Kentucky (7-4) picked up a come-from-behind victory over Murray State before the Christmas break. The Hilltoppers have found comfort in the confines of E.A. Diddle Arena this season as they have a 6-0 record at home. The road on the other hand hasn’t been as kind with a 1-4 mark.
Junior T.J. Prince, leads WKU in scoring has he averaging 16.1 points every time out on the court. The Hilltoppers as a team are scoring around 64.3 points per game and are averaging 39.6 from the floor and are holding their opponents to 43.9 percent shooting.
When Ole Miss and Western Kentucky tip-off Monday night it will be the first meeting between the two programs. Under coach Andy Kennedy, the Rebels have a record of 95-27 against teams outside the SEC.
