Students, family members and faculty were on hand at Oxford High School this afternoon at 1 p.m. to cheer on the Chargers as they departed for Jackson and their state championship matchup with Picayune tonight.
The winner will be the Mississippi 5A state champs.The game kicks off at 7:30 and is available on Mississippi Public Broadcasting stations. The game is the final and feature matchup in the Blue Cross Blue Shield 2013 Gridiron Classic at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson.
“For the first time ever, our football team has set a school record winning 14 games in a row. This is an achievement that makes all of us proud,” Oxford High School Athletic Director and Chargers Head Football Coach Johnny Hill said. “I am extremely excited for this group; this is what we’ve worked all season to do.”
