OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss junior defensive specialist Rachael McLamore was recognized for her hard work off the volleyball court Tuesday as she was named to the annual Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, the league office announced.

Hailing from Driftwood, Texas, McLamore participated in a number of events in the community, including the Adopt a Basket Thanksgiving fundraiser, Operation Christmas Child, and the Books and Bears Christmas fundraiser.

A member of Ole Miss’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, McLamore coached sand volleyball clinics for elementary school kids on Sundays throughout the summer, and also coached at seven FCA volleyball camps and was a volleyball coach at a southern California foster child sports fair.

Around Oxford, McLamore participated in Reading with the Rebels and volunteered at More than a Meal, where she would help others and cook food for those in need. She also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, worked with Love Packs as part of a SAAC fundraiser, and volunteered at the First Baptist Church Double Decker Weekend event.

The SEC sponsors community service teams for all 21 league sponsored sports. The community service team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts. The 2013 edition is the 10th annual volleyball community service team.

McLamore played in every match but one this season and earned three starts. She finished the year averaging 1.38 digs per set and closed out the 2013 season with double-digit dig totals in two of the Rebels’ final six matches. McLamore had 14 service aces on the year, including a career-high tying four vs. Georgia on Nov. 15.
