Ole Miss Women’s Basketball Takes on Southeastern Louisiana
The Ole Miss women’s basketball team returns to the Tad Smith Coliseum on Friday night when they take on the Southeastern Louisiana Lions. The Lady Rebels just returned from Hawaii where they competed against tough competition in the Rainbow Wahine Classic. The Rebels played three games in Hawaii and dropped all three games.
Ole Miss hopes to bounce back and improve their 1-4 record by defeating a struggling SELA team who has started the season 1-3. Coming into the game the Rebels are averaging 66.0 points per game but their opponents are outscoring them with an average of 74.4 points per game. The 3-point line hasn’t been kind to Ole Miss either. The Lady Rebs have made only 19 shots out of 107 attempts which is an abysmal percentage of .178.
There have been bright spots on the year for the Rebels however. In the Jacksonville State game, Ole Miss struggled in the first half on offense only scoring 24 points. But in the second half, they came out and lit up the scoreboard by scoring 59 points. This team is more than capable of putting up points. It’s just got to find a rhythm.
Tia Faleru and Valencia McFarland have led the way scoring for the Lady Rebs by both averaging double digit points. Faleru also averages 10.8 rebounds a game which puts her at a double double average. If the Lady Rebs can get in a rhythm on offense, then it could be a long night for the Lions.
Southeast Louisiana has had their troubles scoring as well but they can be scrappy at times. If Ole Miss plays up to their potential, then it shouldn’t be much of a game.
Tip-off is at 5 o’clock Friday evening at the Tad Pad. The Lady Rebels play the first game in a double header. After their game, the Ole Miss men will tip-off at 7:30 against Mississippi Valley State.
