The season of giving is also the season of selling at the Fourth Annual Oxford Holiday Market in Oxford this weekend.
The market exhibits a collection of items from more than 40 regional businesses, boutiques, artists, photographers and craftspeople. Visitors can listen to live music from the band, 34th Street, while browsing the booths.
“I can’t think of a better fundraiser than one that involves shopping and puppies,” said Danielle Fyke, 21-year-old Oxford resident.
The Oxford Holiday Market is a fundraiser for the Humane Society and $5 from each ticket sold at the door will go toward the animal shelter. Attendees may bring their pets to get photos with Santa Claus, too.
For the Oxford Conference Center, the market provides a chance to help showcase the city, as well.
“We didn’t have one in the area and we have attended several in the regions, so we thought it would be a good bit to showcase in Oxford,” said sales manager Hayden Guest. “We wanted to bring people to Oxford—day-travelers and overnighters.”
The preview party will be tonight at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for early bird shoppers and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Oxford Conference Center.
“We usually have about a thousand people attend and the party atmosphere is tonight. We have a holiday band, a cash bar and food,” said Guest.
