OXFORD, Miss. – One week prior to its off week, the Ole Miss volleyball team hosts Tennessee and South Carolina on Friday and Sunday, respectively, at the Gillom Sports Center. Ole Miss will face Tennessee on Friday at 7 p.m. CT before going against South Carolina on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.

“It will be good to stay at home a little bit and get comfortable again,” Ole Miss head coach Joe Getzin said. “In these two matches, we match up well with those teams. We’re looking forward to playing.”

Ole Miss (10-9, 0-6 Southeastern Conference) has been led this season by sophomore middle blockers Nakeyta Clair and Ty Laporte. Clair is second on the team with 2.26 kills per set and is first on the team and fifth in the SEC with 1.17 blocks per set. Laporte has a team-high 2.52 kills per set and is second on the team with 0.75 blocks per set. Laporte, a native of Irmo, S.C., has recorded 12 or more kills in each of the past three matches.

Freshman setter Aubrey Edie is passing out 8.54 assists per set, and freshman right side hitter Melanie Crow is averaging 2.10 kills per set and 0.71 blocks per set.

Friday, in conjunction with “Orange you glad you’re a Rebel?” will be a red out at the Gillom Sports Center. Red t-shirts and red pom-poms will be handed out to fans upon arrival. Sunday is “Greek Day,” where the fraternity and sorority with the most spirit will get a picture on the Ole Miss website and recognition at the Ole Miss homecoming football game against Idaho on Oct. 26. All Greeks will also receive a free Ole Miss six-pack cooler.

Tennessee (8-11, 0-5 SEC) has been led this season by senior libero Ellen Mullins, who paces the SEC in digs per set with 6.09. Sophomore setter Lexi Dempsey is ninth in the conference with 9.30 assists per set and freshman outside hitter Jamie Lea has led the Lady Vols with 3.38 kills per set.

South Carolina (10-8, 2-4 SEC) enters this weekend with one of the top attacking threats in the SEC in senior outside hitter Juliette Thévenin. Thévenin’s 4.82 kills per set total is the highest in the conference, while sophomore setter Kellie McNeil is seventh in the SEC with 10.33 assists per set.
