Diamond Rebels Open Fall Practice Friday
Rebels Welcome 19 Newcomers Along With 22 Returning Players for 2014
OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss baseball team will begin preparation for the 2014 season when it takes the field this weekend to open fall practice at Swayze Field.
The fall practice schedule will kick off this weekend with Scout Day on Friday afternoon and the first of two scrimmages. Friday’s Scout Day will begin at 2:45 p.m., while Saturday’s scrimmage will begin at 2:30 p.m.
This weekend marks the first of seven weekends of scrimmages for the Rebels, including the Red and Blue game the weekend of October 19 when Ole Miss will also host the LSU Tigers in football. A start time for the Red-Blue Game has yet to be determined and will depend on the game time for football that weekend.
Ole Miss welcomes 19 newcomers to the squad this fall to join 22 players who return from last year’s squad that posted 38 wins and advanced to an NCAA Regional.
It marked the 11th time in 13 seasons for the Rebels to advance to the NCAA Tournament under head coach Mike Bianco, the most appearances in the postseason by a head coach in school history and one of the best active stretches of NCAA postseason participation by any program nationally.
