COLUMBIA, Mo. – Blake Morris fired a two-round total of 143 to lead Ole Miss on the first day of the NCAA Regional Preview hosted by the University of Missouri Monday.

The Waterbury, Conn., native is once again in contention for the individual title after posting five birdies in the morning round and carding a 1-under par 71. In the afternoon round, he broke even, notching five birdies and a double bogey late into round play. He is currently tied for 12th place heading into tomorrow third and final round.

Ben Wolcott, who is currently tied for fourth place and competing as an individual, posted a two-round total of 141. The freshman carded five birdies and an eagle en route to a 4-under 68 in the second round of play at The Club at Old Hawthorne course. During the morning round, he notched two birdies and a score of 1-over 73.

“Blake Morris is in contention again, even though he had a double bogey late in the second round,” head coach Ernest Ross said. “Ben Wolcott, who is playing as an individual, had a great 68 in the second round and is also in contention for the individual title. As a team, we had too many tentative shots. We seem more afraid of what we don’t want to happen, rather than focusing on what we do want to happen.”

As a team, the Rebels posted a score of 10-over par and are in seventh place after rounds of 295 and 291. The host Tigers lead with a team score of 14-under par.

Sophomore Connor Davis fired rounds of 73 in the morning and 74 in the afternoon to finish the day 3-over par and tied for 24th place. Forrest Gamble and Noah West finished the day tied for 38th place, both carding a two-round total of 150. Junior Joe Lewis posted a two-round total of 153, finishing the day tied for 49th place.

The final round of the NCAA Regional Preview continues tomorrow at The Club at Old Hawthorne course. Fans can follow scoring by going to OleMissSports.com and clicking the link in the calendar. Follow the Rebels all season at @OleMissMGolf and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/OleMissMGolf.
