Where Do the Squirrels Go on Game Days?
As Thousands Descend On The Grove At Ole Miss For World Class Tailgating, A Former Delta Belle Has Answered The Question Of Where Do All the Squirrels Go On Game Days
In her new children’s book, “Where Do They Go On Game Day?,” Laurie G. Fisher tells the story of the squirrels who live in The Grove.
“While studying and teaching art at Ole Miss I always marveled at all of the activity in The Grove on game day. Then I thought, where do the squirrels I see each week go when fans come to The Grove,” the New Orleans teacher, artist, and writer said.
Laurie, a native of Indianola, MS, earned her BFA in Illustration at he Memphis College of Art and an MFA in painting at Ole Miss, where she also taught art. She wrote the book and provided the illustrations, which include settings of The Grove, the Oxford Square, and other community landmarks.
“I hope children and their parents will be inspired by this book to take their own squirrelly jaunts about Oxford,” she said.
Where Do They Go On Game Day? can be purchased in Oxford at Square Books Jr. or on-line at www.olemisssquirrels.com. Other retailers are listed on the website as well. The book is available on-line for $14.95 plus $4.00 shipping and handling. The author can be reached at olemisssquirrels@gmail.com.
“I will be delighted to autograph the book and write a special message to young book readers as well,” she said.
