Oxford Sessions Throws Rooftop Anniversary Concert
Local music documentary series celebrates atop OU Club.
What better way to acknowledge the first year of the Oxford Sessions than with a concert, which will be from 7 to 10 p.m. on the rooftop of the Oxford University Club on Wednesday, August 28.
“Because there was no way we could decide who should play among all the talent, we created a poll through Facebook and let Oxford Sessions fans and the musicians’ fans decide among those available who got to perform at the celebration,” explains co-founder Danny Klimetz.
Morgan Pennington, The Red Thangs, Holy Ghost Electric Show, Harpo, King Kobraz, and Kalo.
“We’ll have a projector set up to play some of the videos of the artists not performing during set changes,” Klimetz says. “Though some of the acts might be purely acoustic, we do imagine some acts bringing a full band.”
The event will be free to the public with a cash bar on site, though Klimetz and company will be asking for donations to help with funding the project into the future.
In its first year, Oxford Sessions has shot sessions with more than 30 musicians and has released 23 episodes.
“Our mission for Oxford Sessions is to shed a light on the indie artists who are out there working every day just to bring a little music into our lives. Typically our format is to record three tracks, unplugged and on location with very little production, as well as a 10- to 15-minute interview, though we do have to deviate from that from time to time.”
