University Museum Offers After School Art Program
Classes run from Sept. 3 to Nov. 21
OXFORD, Miss. – The end of summer signals the beginning of the Fall 2013 ArtZone at the UM Museum.
Running from September 3 to November 21, ArtZone will revolve around the exhibits from the museum’s permanent collection and traveling exhibitions.
“ArtZone is a truly unique program here in Oxford as each week children are inspired by art and artifacts from our collections and beyond in an educational, fun, and hands-on way,” said Emily Dean, Curator of Education. “The Museum comes to life for these young learners in a way that they will remember for years to come. We travel back in time, dabble in modern art, and push the limits of creativity, all culminating in a final exhibit of student work here at the Museum.”
ArtZone has a semester fee of $50 per family for museum members at the family level or higher and $130 per family for non-members. All supplies and snacks are included.
Parents can choose to enroll their children in the Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday classes. Each day will offer classes for two different age groups, grades K-2 and grades 3-6.
For children in Oxford City Public schools, a bus will be able to bring the children to the Museum.
ArtZone runs from 3:45 to 5 p.m. Parents can pick up a registration form at the Museum or download a copy here.
Space is limited. The deadline to register is Aug. 20, 2013. For more information about the Museum’s Fall 2013 ArtZone, visit http://museum.olemiss.edu/artzone-fall-2013/ or contact Emily Dean at esdean@olemiss.edu.
