Oxford School District Officials Unveil New School Security Procedures
Demonstration to Give Media First-Hand Look at New Visitor Check-In Process
Oxford, Mississippi— Officials from the Oxford School District will unveil new school security procedures on Wednesday, August 7th at 10 a.m. on the campus of Della Davidson Elementary. Oxford School District Superintendent Brian Harvey said the new security measures include a new procedure that directly impacts the way school visitors will gain access to any Oxford public school campus. The new visitor management system, a first for the school district, will present a new check-in process for all school visitors.
After recent events such as the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting and last year’s online threats made against Oxford High School, Oxford School District officials made a proactive decision to enhance school security measures district-wide. The decision involves a new way for all visitors to check-in and gain access onto a school’s campus beginning this fall.
The new visitor check-in process involves a visitor management kiosk called LobbyGuard. School officials want parents, families and visitors to know what to expect when visiting any Oxford public school this school year, and how to use the new visitor management kiosk.
